Hanging By a Thread

A gorgeous aerium to hang inside or out.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

A hanging terrarium (usually a glass globe or teardrop-shaped container) | Air plant | Stones | Twine

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:

I LOVE THIS TERRARIUM SO MUCH!

Ahem.

I saw this container—I’m sure it has a name but I don’t know it—at the nursery and although I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it, I knew I needed to buy it. I didn’t want to plant anything in it because I really wasn’t confident enough to try it, so I decided to put an air plant in it instead.

I cleaned and dried the container carefully and chose an air plant that would sit in the center but reach toward the top and sides. It was perfect. Before placing it, I put a layer of stones I had found at the beach that had been worn down to a perfect smoothness.

Now I was ready for my air plant. I had to be careful putting it in so I wouldn’t break off any of the leaves, but once it was in there, it fit beautifully. I finished by tying a piece of twine to the top and then I hung it outside.
