Chapter Fifteen

Waking up to her first alarm, Beth realized instantly what she had done. Mike was still draped over the top of her. She was pinned down and couldn't reach the button. Literally pushing him off of her to get to it, she was forced into climbing over him. When she pulled her arm back, Mike was staring up at her.

As sleepy as he was, the appreciation was still in his eyes, which helped her with the awkwardness of waking up with a man in her bed. Huskily, he asked, "How are you feeling?"

"Honestly? A little nervous." Tender.

"Why?"

"I told you. I don't make a habit of this. Morning-afters are awkward for me. What do you expect?" She'd never had a morning after. The day before with Mickey didn't count.

"I don't know that I expect anything, but I'm willing to go again, if you want a quickie before we get up."

She giggled. "A quickie? People really say that?"

Mike blushed a little. "Some of us do, I guess. Yeah."

Lying back, she stared at the ceiling, covering her breasts with her hands. "I never believed that, I guess."

Mike rolled over on top of her and said, "Then let me introduce you to the art."

The act was quick enough to convince her in the existence of 'quickies'. Yet, it still left her satiated.

The sight did something to his insides. All at once, he went hot and cold, broke out in a sweat, and came to the inevitable truth. Beth had been a virgin. Considering her behavior with Mickey, he would've never believed it. Considering her reaction to him, encouraging him, he couldn't believe it.

He went back to the bed to examine the evidence, just to be sure. No doubt about it. Pulling the sheet up, and then the blanket to cover it, he decided to let her discover the stain later. How could he bring it up with her? Hey, I saw the bloodstain? No. The secret would stay a secret. He would pretend he never noticed. But his chest swelled a little, just at knowing the truth, that she'd waited for him.

When she came out of the bathroom in short order, with a towel wrapped around her head, and a robe on, he slid past her without saying a word.

She said over-cheerily, "I left you some hot water."

"Thanks." He shut the door.

In the shower, Mike scrubbed everything roughly with her girly-scented soap and shampoo. "Great. Everyone will know where I've been, just by the smell of me." He rinsed, sniffed the soap again and grinned. "Rose. Great, Beth." He didn't really mind. In fact,
