Chapter Twenty-Five

The hall was dark when Erika stepped out of Prof. Von Klein’s office. She had not meant to stay that long, but the professor had been a lot of fun tonight. He was totally different than what he seemed like on the teaching stage. There he was so tight-laced and ‘respectable’. She would never have guessed the kinky side of him. Hell, she would never have guessed that she would be willing to play along. The things he made her do! She knew she wasn’t the only one, but that was okay. She was enjoying herself. And being one of the professor’s ‘pets’ was certainly not going to hurt her career here at the Eyrie. She knew it had opened doors last year for Genevieve, and she hoped that it would end up playing well for her.

She was anxious now, however, just to get home and get in the shower. Her skin glinted even in the low hallway light from oil. She’d used one of the professor’s towels to wipe it off, but she still felt greasy all over. Her panties were literally glued to her ass. She wished she hadn’t even bothered to put them back on.

Erika hurried down the hall, heading to the elevator as fast as she could. She shifted from one foot to the next after she pressed the down button on the wall next to the elevator bank. She really wanted to move.

She didn’t notice the dark-clad figure moving in the shadows behind her until after she’d stepped into the elevator and hit the button. She bent down to look at the sheen of her calves, and there was suddenly a shadow on them. Just as she noticed that someone had gotten in the elevator after her, she swore she heard her name called from out in the hall.

Erika looked up as the doors began to close. The newcomer was completely clad in black. Her heart skipped. She slowly straightened up, noting the black shoes and pants and long-sleeved shirt of the person in front of her. She could only see the back of the person, who did not turn around. She couldn’t even tell if it was a girl or a guy – the head was covered in a black winter pullover hat. Which was scary all by itself because it was still at least sixty degrees outside tonight. Summer was slipping away into a fall memory, but it wasn’t completely gone yet.

The head remained motionless as the elevator creaked its slow descent. Erika realized she was holding her breath as she stared at the back of the head. She wanted to say something…but she was afraid to encourage the head to turn around. What if this was the killer?

Hoy shit, she could be locked in an elevator with the same psycho who murdered Gen and Anita and Isabella!

Erika’s throat went bone-dry. Her fingers clenched white on the grips of her purse. She inched a step backwards. Not that there was anywhere to run.
