You will need:

large saucepan

large pot

colander

1. Melt the butter with the oil over low heat in a large saucepan. The pan should be large enough to hold all ingredients. Add the onion and cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.

2. Add all the other ingredients except the spaghetti. Cook, uncovered, over very low heat for 20 minutes, stirring now and then. You can make the sauce ahead and reheat it at mealtime.

3. About 20 minutes before you want to eat, start heating a big pot of water. Cook the spaghetti according to the directions on the box. You’d better have a grown-up help you with cooking and draining it. After the spaghetti is drained, combine it with the sauce and serve.
