RELAXING CRYSTAL HAND MASSAGE
By using a stone or wand to stimulate organs—from the pituitary gland to digestive organs to the reproductive system—that correspond with various points in the hands, you have the ability to calm your entire body. Applying medium pressure to these points helps provide a release and relieves tension.
What you’ll need:
Terry cloth towel
Tumbled stone or gemstone wand
Gem oil elixir
Instructions:
1.Apply the gem oil elixir to your hands and massage it in to stimulate your circulation. Clean your fingertips on a towel to remove any excess oil; this way you’ll be able to get a good grip on the wand or stone.
2.Use the wand or stone to stimulate each of the three zones on the palms of your hands, as per the illustration on the facing page.
3.Slowly glide the wand or stone over each of the zones to warm and condition the muscles. Use small circles to gently knead the muscles, gradually increasing pressure to your comfort level. Lighten pressure over your bones; move slowly and more deliberately over areas that are sensitive.
4.Hold the wand or stone in your dominant hand. Referencing the illustration on the facing page, perform a pressure-point massage to the palm of your left hand. Sink the tip of the wand into the point until you feel a comfortable level of resistance. Hold the point for 7 to 10 seconds, then gently pulse the pressure by alternately holding and releasing the point several times. Slowly release pressure until the wand is no longer in contact with the skin.
5.Repeat on the right hand.
ZONES: HANDS
In reflexology, each area, or zone, of the hand corresponds with different body organs and systems, as follows:
Zone 1: This zone encompasses the lungs, breasts/chest, back, heart (on left palm), shoulders, and arms. Eyes and ears are along the base of the fingers (proximal) where the fingers join to the hands. The tips of the fingers (distal) are the head, brain, and sinus. The neck is located on the fingers between the base and tips.
Zone 2: The right palm encompasses the liver, gall bladder, adrenal glands, colon, kidney, and lymph drainage. The left palm encompasses the stomach, pancreas, spleen, colon, kidney, and lymph drainage.
Zone 3: This zone encompasses the small intestine, bladder, lower back, and spine (on lower right and left palm of hand).
