Despite this new brown interior treatment for the C-series being shown at the October 1982 launch, it only started to filter through to production in the summer of 1983 and only appeared on the last of the Y-registered trucks.

The old blue interior had always divided opinion, but the new brown scheme seemed to meet universal acceptance from drivers and certainly provided a warm and restful environment. Apart from the colours, there were no changes to the design from the last revamp (see page 60) with the exception of a revised gear lever that now had the range change switch in the head of the unit, rather than the old plunger arrangement, which used to be attached to the lever below the knob.
