With some open D vocabulary under your belt, let’s look at some single-string open G lines too.

The first thing to get used to in open G is that the root note now sits at the 5th fret on the first string. This is great because you can now play the root note and add some expressive vibrato.

The b3 is three frets above the root and the b7 is two frets below the root. These two notes are integral to the sound of the Minor Pentatonic scale and are extremely expressive.
