Step Eight: Tie a hook to the line, using a really really good knot. (I got Uncle Clive to tie my hook knot too.)

Step Nine: Pinch the right amount of fishing weights onto the line with your fingers.

Step Ten: THEN GET READY FOR THE MAGGOTS!

CHAPTER 14

Maggots! Wriggly tiggly maggots!!!

At first when Uncle Clive took the lid off the bait box to show them to me, I thought, NO WAY!!!!!! There is NO WAY I’m touching a maggot!!!!!!!!!!

When my mum and Auntie Sue saw them, they nearly dropped their glasses of white wine!

Mum said that maggots were the most disgusting things on earth. She said they were filthy, and horrible, and yuk!

But after I’d watched them wriggling around in the bait box for a while, I realized they weren’t filthy at all.

Or horrible.
