Wall mounted living walls/green walls
Trays and panel planters
Benefits include: modular - a series of small panels placed together creates a wonderful living wall effect; extremely space-saving - excellent for narrow spaces like balconies, hallways or patios; provide effective wall insulation in extreme temperatures, summer and winter.
The combination of vertical planters and cascading plants can be spectacular. As a modular system – placed alongside or above/below each other – these living walls can be as large or as little as one wishes.
These systems are made from durable plastic panels with a flat wall-mountable back. Usually they are rectangular or square. Some systems are a single green wall unit with plant openings at the front. More commonly, planters are divided into multiple planting cells. Often, but not always, the cells are slanted at an angle (around 30-45 degrees) to keep the soil from tipping out. Angled trays are also beneficial for plants as they encourage proper drainage away from root systems.
At the bottom of each cell are holes for drainage and soil aeration.
