Absence of visually guided reach

Look and reach are always completed as separate actions: look, look away, reach

Look and reach may rarely occur as a single action if full support of CVI conditions is present (black background, object paired with light, movement, and no additional sensory input)

Look and reach occur as a single action when background is controlled and/or the target is three-dimensional and shiny or moving

Look and reach occur as a single action more than 75 percent of the time

Separate look and reach primarily occur when materials are highly novel or highly complex

Visually directed reach occurs commensurate with the age of the individual

If individual has upper-extremity motor limitations, look and reach occur together even if motor planning requires additional time
