Interview with Sharon K. Gilbert

Sharon K. Gilbert is the author of Ebola and the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse. She has studied Bible prophecy for over 50 years and uses her background in molecular biology to show how Ebola might be mentioned in the book of Revelation. She also cohosts PID Radio with her husband Derek. In my humble opinion, there is nobody better suited to provide information concerning this topic. JOSH PECK: What connections are there between Ebola and the fourth seal of Revelation?

SHARON GILBERT: The Fourth Horseman is all about pestilence and disease. If you look at his description, you’ll see that he is the only NAMED rider of the four. I contend that these four horsemen are supernatural entities given permission by God to transform humanity into a One World Order. This has been the dream of geopoliticians for decades—in fact, some might say for millennia. The named rider on the pale green horse is called ‘Thanatos’. This is the name of a primordial god who served as henchman to Hades. Note that it is Hades who follows along with Thanatos. These two serve the same purpose: to harvest unsaved humans and toss them into hell. Thanatos has a twin brother named Hypnos who transports saved humans to heaven or ‘Abraham’s Bosom’. Hypnos is a gentle ‘reaper’, putting humans to sleep (note that Paul refers to dead saints as ‘sleeping’). Thanatos is not gentle. He brings ‘therion’ as his weapon along with a rhomphaia (the scythe). Therion is Greek for small or tiny beasts as well as a reference to large beasts, but coupled with the reference to pestilence, I believe that Thanatos and Hades will bring a worldwide pandemic, which could be Ebola but could also be a new, engineered disease. Ordo ab Chao, Order out of Chaos is the watch phrase for those in power who seek to transform the Earth into One Governed Body. A worldwide pandemic would serve their purposes by eliminating large portions of the population (Thanatos is given power to kill 25% of humanity), and it would pave the way for strict controls over commerce and travel. As we’ve seen with Ebola’s small footprint in the West (US and Europe), it won’t take much to trigger a major shift in policy.

JOSH PECK: Is there a possibility that Ebola shows up in other Bible prophecies?

SHARON GILBERT: As mentioned above, Ebola may be one type of ‘therion’ employed by Thanatos. The English word ‘pestilence’ occurs 47 times in the KJV translation, and it nearly always refers to judgment upon either Israel or the surrounding nations. Psalm 91 has an interesting reference to pestilence. This Psalm speaks to all who believe in Him now, but particularly to those who will live during the time of the Riders, that is the final seven years of Daniel’s prophecy of Seventy Weeks (i.e. the Tribulation Week):
