The amount of relief I felt when Isla told me she’d broken up with that shithead of a boyfriend should probably scare me. But the first thing that popped into my brain when I realized she was single again was MINE.

Maybe the circumstances for us to start something are all wrong—she works for me, she’s fresh off a breakup, we already had one false start—but something inside me knows that I cannot let this woman get away a second time. Even if the idea of that is terrifying to me.

I pull away from the kiss and grip the length of her ponytail, tugging it down and forcing her to look up at me. “You want me to fuck you right here on this desk so you can think about it every day, all day when you’re at work?”
