The first challenge is the presence of evil equates to the extinction of God. The most demanding form of the question posed to theists is what is called the evidential argument from evil. This implies that evil is not only a problem for the theist to explain, but, in fact, the absence of any moral order seen in the universe actually disproves the existence of God. Several atheistic philosophers have argued this. Some do it in more sophisticated ways than others, but the bottom line is the same. Placing it in a syllogistic form, this is the way their argument runs:

1. There is evil in the world.
