Eight

Charity could not help but smile as Wade held her hand, opening the door for her and everything as they entered Bar None. She’d thought he might be a little reticent about being seen together, but he didn’t miss a step as they walked into the place, heading past the main bar to his office with only a wave at Sam.

The bartender nodded, his gaze locked on their joined hands. Sam seemed to smile sadly, but she could not help that. The man knew how she felt about Wade even before she told him. She was still on cloud nine when Wade stopped in the hall. He backed her against the wall, crushing her with his big body, and kissed her silly.

“Can’t get enough of that mouth, woman. Sadly, I need to contact one of the vendors about a delivery. Did you wanna hang out in my office while I make the call?” he asked.

“Nah, I’m gonna get a water and see if Desiree is here. Want something?”

“No thanks, love. I’m good,” he said, dipping his head to drop a fast kiss on her mouth. “I’ll find you when I’m done.”

“Alright,” she said, staring at his mouth.

She stood on her tiptoes, pulling his neck down and kissing him again, loving the power she felt at the tremble that racked him. Wade and Charity were both breathless by the time she let go. And still, the kiss wasn’t nearly long enough.

Judging from the smoldering look he was giving her, Wade felt the same. She bit her lower lip and pressed her hand on his chest. His heart thudded hard and fast against her palm.

“Hurry up, then take me home, mate,” she whispered, grinning like mad when Wade nodded and practically ran to his office.

Charity watched after him, shaking her head. Men! Always thinking with their peckers. Ha! The truth was she’d spent the better part of the day thinking with her nether regions as well.

Hell, even her Vixen was tickled pink someone wanted her so badly. And not just any someone, but Wade Kettle. She could finally admit her crush was more than that. She’d been halfway in love with him for so long, and now that she’d had a taste of the man, there was simply no going back. For better or worse, she was in this now.

She figured she would just grab a bottle of water from the fridge in the lounge rather than bug Sam. He looked like he was getting ready to leave for the day, anyway. A sudden cramp hit her deep in her gut and Charity bent over at the waist, willing it to pass.

Uh oh.

It was starting already. Her heat cycle was not due for a few more days, but it always began this way. Cramps, followed by more cramps, and a burning, bone deep need that could only be quelled one of two ways. Medication and alcohol, or sex.

Charity was really hoping to pass her heat with the latter this time around. Her inner beast barked her agreement as she walked towards the employee lounge in search of Desiree.
