CHAPTER THIRTEEN -

DESIGNING DIGITAL CONTENT FOR ALL LEARNERS

We can see now that technology is changing the face of education. Students and learners today live in a world where information can be quickly accessed at any time through mobile phones, laptops and tablets.

Like I have explained earlier, blended learning which is also known as hybrid learning is a method of teaching that integrates or combines technology and digital media with traditional instructor-led classroom activities, allowing students or rather giving students more flexibility and access to customize and develop their learning experiences.

It aims to combine the strengths and advantages of both traditional and online learning methods to give learners a more interesting, educative and engaging learning experience, through blended learning we take advantage of both the traditional and the digital worlds, benefitting both the learners and the teachers.

Now from the blended learning environment to classroom software apps to even online assessment tests and others, we see that digital learning enables students to retain more knowledge, to get more engaged and involved in classroom activities and also to enhance their performance. Now even beyond the classroom, digital learning has an impact on its participants, and it’s what we can call deeper learning.

Deeper learning helps to develop a lot of skills which not only helps on the digital aspect of blended learning but on the traditional aspect too. Some skills like critical thinking, which enables the learners to be able to think deeply towards ideas and make necessary contributions to them.

Another skill is problem-solving; this skill helps the learners to be able to proffer solutions even after accessing the situation. Effective communication is also another very important skill that is developed from deeper learning in digital learning; the learners find it very possible to communicate and discuss topics, break them down to their minute bits and also make necessary contributions on how to solve matters or issues and this also leads to collaborative working, as I said, the learners bring and share their ideas and brainstorm solutions to solve problems.

These skills are becoming increasingly important in our rapidly evolving globalized work environment, which requires very flexible intelligence and an ability to adapt to change.

Now to make digital learning in blended learning very effective, we must be able to design or rather create an educative digital content for all the learners involved. Digital learning is made so much easier with the aid of technology that provides students with some elements of control or that allows them to take charge over time, place, or even path.

With digital learning now we see that learning is no longer boxed to a school year or even a school day and its most certainly boxed within the walls of a classroom, No. the internet now and a few of its devices with some technicians involved have been able to give students the ability to learn anytime, anywhere and everywhere.

Also with digital learning, we see that learning and teaching are no longer restricted to the methods or techniques used by the
