I was out in Coney Island chilling in my old hood. I moved me and Alani out of Gravesend Projects about three years ago. Even though we left, we still came out to the hood often. You could take the boy out the hood but the man would always come back to reflect on the lessons it taught him.

I stood in front of my old building with Enzo and Ques just shooting the shit. It was Ques’ 23rd birthday and we planned on doing it big for my nigga. We were talking about the party when Nisha and Silver walked up on us.

“Wassup Enzo and Isiah?” Silver said. Enzo and I both hit her hoe ass with a head nod.

“Hey Isiah,” Nisha sang. I licked my lips and hit her ass with a head nod too. Nisha was fine as fuck. She had a chocolate complexion that looked as soft as a baby’s bottom. She had enough curves to make any nigga want to have road rage. Nisha was a ten, but I already had a chick at home. I wouldn’t speak, but there wasn’t anything wrong with looking.

“Happy birthday Ques,” Nisha said, giving him a quick hug.

“Yeah, happy birthday Ques,” Silver said reaching out for a hug. Ques hit her ass with the stiff arm. Enzo and I laughed our asses off.

“Damn Ques, it’s like that?” Silver asked, cocking her head to the side.

“Hell yeah it’s like that. He’s not trying to get shot behind your ass again,” Enzo laughed.

“You got shot? Who the hell shot you?” Silver asked, being dramatic.

“Get your fucking girl Nisha,” Ques barked.

“Silver, walk around the block while I talk to him real quick,” Nisha said.

“Fine. Ques, call me baby,” she said before walking off.

“Nisha, how you even know that bitch, yo?” Ques asked.

“I met her around the time you got knocked. She cool once you get past her hoeish ways,” she laughed.

“Yeah ‘ight. I’m out, that shit just blew mine,” Ques said. He dapped up Enzo and me before hugging Nisha and walking away.

“Can I talk to you real quick Isiah?” Nisha asked.

“Yeah, walk to the store with me.” I told her. “Wassup?” I asked as we walked.

“Nothing, just trying to see what’s up with you. Everything was love between us at the club. You asked for my number, I gave it to you and then you didn’t even call,” she said.

I felt bad for how I did Nisha, but I didn’t feel the need to explain myself to her. Shit happens.

“I been busy,” I told her.

“Come on Isiah, you know the streets talk,” she said, stopping at the corner and leaning up against the fence.

“The streets be talking, huh?” I smirked. “What they be saying?”

“That someone has finally locked you down.”

“You know you can’t believe everything you hear in the streets.”

“I know, which is why I’m coming to you. I thought I would be the one to lock you down but I guess not,” she pouted. I laughed because Nisha was coming on strong.
