CHAPTER 13

Aaron pointed at a delivery map near the fish tanks.

“Sofia,” he said, “where was Pup when you saw him last?”

“In my yard,” said Sofia. “I was about to give him a bath, so I took off his collar and went to put it on the porch. When I came back, he was gone.”

She pointed to the map. Aaron marked the spot with an X.

“What about Bricks?” asked Aaron.

Iggy pointed to his street and Aaron made another X on the map.

“Here’s one from Maple Street,” said Ada.

“And two from Oak Avenue,” said Rosie.

Aaron marked the spots.

They went from poster to poster, marking the map with each location they found.

“Look!” said Aaron. “That’s it!”

Ada looked at the map, but she only saw a bunch of red Xs scattered over the map. She tilted her head left and right and squinted. The map made no sense.

“I don’t see anything,” she said.

“Exactly!” said Aaron, waving his hand over half of the map.

“There’s nothing there!” said Rosie.

“Ohhhh,” said Iggy. He squinted at the map. “I still don’t get it,” he said.

“Look!” said Aaron. “There are no missing pets over here. All the Xs start at the pet shop and go that way.”
