Tiara

All I heard throughout the house was children crying, yelling and feet paddling the hallways. At first I was going to let it rock, but then I remembered my babies didn’t walk, and Keyshawn was with his grandmother. I pulled myself out of bed and looked at the clock on the cable box. It was five in the evening. I couldn’t believe I had slept through the day. I kind of did because I have been so damn busy and I desperately needed that rest. I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Just as I was about to exit the room, Jaeshawn rushed out his closet dressed with his keys in his hands.

“Shit went down, I’ll call you,” He kissed me on the lips and headed out the room. ”Watch the kids for me, please.” He called over his back.

I ran down out the room and called out to him as he touched the doorknob. “What kids? The twins are with my mom and Keyshawn is with your mom.”

He didn’t answer as he closed the door behind him. I went into Keyshawn’s room and he sure enough was in his crib crying his eyes out. I rolled my eyes so hard I was sure they would pop out my head. Why did he feel it was alright to just leave me with his son? Don’t get me wrong, if he asked I would have done it. Yet, he yells it and runs out the damn door without an explanation.

“Can I have something to eat?” I turned around quickly and jumped at the little girl standing there. Who the fuck was this little girl. Jaeshawn had a lot of explaining to do. I wasn’t a damn daycare.

“What’s your name sweetie?” I asked, as I picked Keyshawn’s crying ass up.

“My name is Ivory. My sister Avery is downstairs, she’s hungry too,” She explained. She was the cutest thing, but what the hell did she mean her sister was downstairs.

Before I could reply, my cellphone sounded off. I picked up on the first ring, hoping it was Jaeshawn with an explanation. “Hello,”

“Hey baby, I’m bringing the twins home. They’re short staffed at the hospital and need me there. I’ll be there in an hour.”

“Ugh, more damn babies. Alright see you in a bit,” I sighed.

“What the hell you mean more damn babies. These are your children, Tiara!” She yelled, I was aggravated, so I wasn’t going to go there with my mama.

“Nothing, mama. I’ll see you when you get here.” I ended the call, and helped the kids downstairs.

I almost threw Keyshawn on the floor when I saw the mess in the kitchen. Cereal was sprawled all over the floor, along with milk. A baby that looked to be about eight months was on the floor crawling, and eating the cereal. I located Jaeshawn’s high chair and placed him inside of it. I picked up the baby, and placed her in the other high chair. Then I grabbed Ivory’s hand and sat her at the counter.
