Of course, not everyone could be Elvis. It helped if you were handsome enough to make the girls scream, like Huelyn Duvall, whose toughest rockabilly side was probably ‘Three Months To Kill’ (1958), a storming rocker written for him by the very talented Danny Wolfe. Good looks weren’t everything, though, as was proved when Danny wrote another song called ‘The Will Of Love’ (1958), released on a Texas label called Twinkle, which Wolfe co-owned with multiple-label entrepreneur Major Bill Smith. Brilliantly performed by Tooter Boatman & the Chaparrals, with Danny himself on piano, ‘The Will Of Love’ was a driving powerhouse of a tune backed by some of the finest rockabilly drumming of the era. Major Bill later summed up the difference between Tooter and Huelyn, speaking to Bill Millar, Ray Topping and Adam Komorowski:
