INVOCATION

“The lord whom you seek will come suddenly to his temple, / the messenger of the covenant whom you desire.”168

THANKSGIVING

Look upon Christ with the eyes of faith, in the depths of your heart, as the great High Priest who has passed through the heavens169 and now comes down again in love to unite you to him; and look upon yourself as his minister, bound to render him every honor.

Love him with a humble love,170 as the holy pontiffs loved him, never failing to serve such a magnificent Pontiff.

Ask him for the gift of tenderness and mercy, that you may earn the eternal mercy of a high priest who has been tested in every way like us and so is able to sympathize with our weaknesses.171
