plywood, carrying

I don't know just how much a 4×8 sheet of ¾″ plywood weighs, but it's difficult for an old guy like me to carry, so I came up with the carrying jig shown. Take a piece of ½″ thick plywood that is 12″ wide. Put one end of it on the floor and lean it against your leg. Put your arm down and close your hand. Get someone to make a pencil mark on the plywood where your knuckles are. With your square, draw a line 3″ below that mark. This will be the top of the hand grip, so the full length of the board will be a couple of inches above that. Drill a starter hole and use a jigsaw to cut out the hand grip. On the bottom of one side, glue and screw two pieces of ¾″ plywood that are 2″ wide × 12″ long. On the bottom of the other side, glue and screw one piece that is also 2″ × 12″. On top of that piece, place another. Sand off the rough edges and you've got yourself a carrying jig. On one side of the jig, you can carry a ¾″ sheet of the plywood. On the other side, you can carry two ½″ thick sheets. Just make sure that the sheets are centered on the jig to make it balanced.
