As you can see these are the shortest intervals, or distance between chord tones.
Here's another example of a minor 2nd interval. Also known as one-half step.
From all open strings to the 1st fret of that same string is a minor 2nd interval.
From the 3rd fret to the preceding open string is the distance of a major 2nd interval.
From all open strings to the 2nd fret of that same string is a major 2nd interval.
Here's another example of a major 2nd interval. Also known as one-whole step.
