AstroPrint

OctoPrint is web based while AstroPrint is software based. AstroPrint can be set up and run from a home computer. Unlike OctoPrint, AstroPrint is made for profit. The basic control software is free for up to two printers, with plans available if additional printers are added. AstroPrint is designed to work with most printers. If your printer is not on the list, you can ask the manufacturer to add a profile. AstroPrint works as a rather simple slicer program with Wi-Fi capability. You can control your printer using your phone or tablet, along with your desktop computer, by adding a Raspberry Pi with AstroPrint software. AstroPrint is primarily aimed at Wi-Fi control of the printer and does not have the functionality of Cura or PrusaSlicer.

Toshiba FlashAir is another option for wireless operation of your printer. The Toshiba FlashAir is an SD card with Wi-Fi capability. By placing a FlashAir into the SD port on your 3D printer, you give it Wi-Fi capability. Once the card is installed you now need to program it for the printer and install software or configure the computer to run it. This is not that difficult, but the FlashAir costs about the same as building an OctoPrint system with a Raspberry Pi.
