1 HOUR EASY

1. With main yarn colour ch35, join in a ring to first ch, taking care not to twist. Check the fit over the bottom of your jar.

(Please note, you can increase or decrease in multiples of five to get the perfect fit)

Rnd 1: Ch3, dc into same ch, ch1, 2dc in same ch. *sk 4ch, 2dc, ch1, 2dc in next ch,* repeat ** around. Sl st to top of ch3.

Rnd 2: Sl st into next st, sl st into ch sp. Ch3, dc, ch1, 2dc in ch sp, *2dc, ch1, 2dc in next ch sp* repeat ** around. Join to top of ch3.

Rnd 3–9: repeat round 2.

Check the fitting before starting round 10. If it seems a little short, add extra rounds to build it up.

Rnd 10: Join edging colour. Ch1, sc in same st. Sc in each st and in each space around. Join to top of first sc.

Rnd 11: *Ch3, sk 1sc, sl st in next st,* repeat ** to end. Fasten off. Sew in ends.

2. Slide the finished sleeve over your jar. Place the tea light inside to light up the jar. It will cast pretty shadows against surfaces and walls and create a soft light in the evenings.

3. You can add a wire carry handle to turn this into a lantern. Bend a length of wire into a handle shape and loop each end through the crocheted edging either side, twisting it back on itself to hold in place.
