34. Set a Limited Bar Time

Arrange with the site manager for your bar to be open for a shorter period of time, perhaps closing it down an hour before the reception ends. With service ended early, you could save 20 to 40 percent off your liquor bill. Coffee may be served for the final hour of your event, which will save you a fortune in liquor expenses. If you like the idea of closing the bar early but don’t want your guests to miss out on having a drink or two at the end of the evening, you can arrange for the bartenders to put a bottle of wine or pitcher of sangria on each guest table for self-service.

BRIDAL BONUS If you will close your bar early, make sure you let guests know so that they can get their final drink of the evening. Print on the guest table menu cards, “The bar will close at 5:00 pm for the dessert hour. Coffee will be served at that time.”
