The most powerful experience of love I’ve ever had occurred some years ago while I was on a beach in Tel Aviv, Israel. I like to call what I experienced that day “totalorgasmicbliss”. It was early April and springtime in God’s Own Country, so the temperature was fine and there was a gentle breeze coming from the ocean. I was sitting on the sand about 10-15 meters from the water’s edge and a good distance away from the Banana Beach café’s merry reggae music. (I’d been in Israel several times that year and discovered that the beach cafés had tape loops playing the same music over and over again, every single day). It must have been around noon when I decided to try sitting still and doing nothing for a couple of hours. Sitting quietly doing nothing for an hour or so was something I’d “done” before, but for some reason, on that day I decided to try doing it for much longer — like for several hours!
