Tip # 73b: Have your Aiden use sight to strengthen his body experience.

Try the “I See You” game. If your Aiden can talk, strengthen his body experience and help him become aware of others by having him face another child and take turns describing how each sees the other. If he signs, have him sign. Renaud says, “I see Aiden’s brown hair,” while Aiden may say, “I see Renaud’s green eyes.” You can vary this game by trying it with all the kids in the neighborhood, and all of your relatives. Some children with autism may not be able to deal with adjectives and nouns together, especially those adjectives concerning abstract concepts like colors. Help them make simpler comments if needed.
