The book, The Help, told the story about African-American maids who worked in white households in Mississippi during the 1960s. It was rejected by 60 literary agents. When it was finally released, it was on The New York Times Best Sellers list for over 100 weeks and sold over five million copies. It inspired a movie of the same name, in which Octavia Spencer won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She is one of the few African-Americans to win an acting Oscar.

When Clark Gable had his first screen-test for Warner Bros, the studio head called him an “ape” with “huge, floppy taxi-cab ears.” He went on to become the most famous movie star of his time and was nicknamed The King of Hollywood. His crowning achievement was when he played the lead role in Gone with the Wind.
