Accessibility (MORA)

Jackson Visitor Center (Paradise) is fully accessible to wheelchair users. Ohanapecosh and Sunrise Visitor Centers and Longmire Museum are accessible, but passages are narrow and may require assistance. Accessible rooms are available at Paradise Inn and National Park Inn. Accessible campsites are available at Cougar Rock and Ohanapecosh Campgrounds. Kautz Creek Trail, Trail of Shadows, and Paradise’s Lower Meadow Trails are accessible with assistance.

Weather (MORA)

Mountain weather is unpredictable. The best you can do is to have a contingency plan for all possible conditions. One of the most disappointing aspects of the park is that its 14,410-ft mountain is often hidden behind a blanket of clouds. July and August are typically the clearest, driest, and warmest months of the year. At Paradise (5,400-ft elevation), summer average highs are in the low 60s°F with lows in the mid-40s°F. The area’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean helps moderate seasonal changes in temperature. Winter highs average in the mid-30s°F with lows in the low 20s°F. Expect Longmire (2,762-ft) to be a few degrees warmer than Paradise and Ohanapecosh (1,950-ft) to be a few degrees warmer than Longmire.
