Izzie

"You brought me cocoa?"

Ben slowly drags his eyes open and they come to rest on my face.

"I did." His gaze ping-pongs around the room, but he won't look at the tub.

It's cute, his hesitancy to look at me. He's already seen me naked once, but I appreciate that he's trying to be a gentleman now. My skin prickles with desire for him to look at me again, even if he won't see anything now. The tub is full of sudsy water.

"Bring my hot chocolate over here and sit on the edge of the tub with me. There are too many bubbles for you to see anything anyway."

A slow smile builds on his face as he makes his way over to me. He hands me the cocoa and I take a sip. It's nearly impossible for me to stifle a moan, but I do this time. "This is the richest, creamiest cocoa I've ever had. They must use heavy cream in it instead of milk. Did you try it yet?"

"No, I didn't."

I hand him the mug and insist. "You have to."

He takes it from me and blows on it before bringing it to his lips. "Wow, you're right. It's delicious." He sets it down on the sink and has a seat on the edge of the tub. "How's the bath?"

"Exactly what I needed. Thank you for finding this place. All the B&Bs have been fantastic. I’ve got great information for my piece," I tell him. I'm grateful for all he's done for me during this trip. "I won't lie. I was disappointed when I got my assignment to come here. But you've made it really fun for me. Thanks for that, too."

He stares at me, his eyes a shade of light chestnut in the dim lighting of the bathroom. "This is my first assignment. I wouldn’t have known what to do without you."

Cupping my hand in the water, I raise it up in the air and let it drip into the bubbles. "I would’ve loved to be in my bikini at the beach, but Cedar Falls has exceeded my expectations."

"I would love to see you in a bikini."

My body gets warm despite the water cooling down. I shift and get a stinging pain in my lower back. "Ouch."

"You okay?"

"My back is a little sore from the fall today. The jets felt good for a while, but now that the water is cool it's starting to ache again. I'm going to need to schedule a massage for tomorrow."

"I can give you a massage now. I've been told I'm quite good at it."

I'm suddenly very aware of my heart beating in my chest. "You wouldn't mind?"

He stands to get my towel and brings it back to the tub. "Not at all. Will you need help getting out?"

"I'll be okay. Leave the towel right there," I say, pointing to the edge of the tub.

"You’ve got it." He leaves the towel and backs out of the bathroom.

I blow out a long exhale and let the water out of the tub.
