Chapter Fifteen

Dunk couldn’t believe he was having this discussion yet again. Each day, it seemed as if they were arguing about her ex-boyfriend.

“It was you who told me he was repulsive cheater and he only wanted to see you because his own family wouldn’t come see him or do for him. Didn’t you?” He paced back and forth. “He’s using you and your daughter. She told me that she hates going there. And don’t think I don’t know about the money you’ve been sending him and those phone calls,” he added.

“You can’t tell me what to do with my hard earned money. It’s mine to do as I please. What’s a few dollars anyway, what, I’m supposed to let my child’s father rot in prison knowing that I can assist him in some type of way? Yes, I agree he’s a loser, but I can remember a time when he was a good man.”

“Whatever!” He blew the comment off.

“Well, if you’re going to continue to live here, you must respect my privacy or else.”

“Or else what?” Dunk closed the distance between them. He helped saved the house from being in foreclosure. After the holidays things took a nasty turn for her financially. “I’m not stupid. I know when I’m getting played. But don’t worry, if you don’t get your shit together, you won’t have to kick me out. Believe that!”

“Dunk! Please watch your language!” Danni pleaded with him as she brushed her daughter’s hair. “You know she idolizes you and echoes every single word you say.”

Things were quickly spinning out of control. Danni truly cared for Dunk who she felt was a God send, but the continuing fights over Mark started to get more intense. Daily she found it more impossible to focus completely on their relationship when so much of her free time involved doing for Mark, who stayed in the picture.

The weeks passed swiftly and still, she hadn’t slept with Dunk. Stunned that he was sticking around faithful, why was she abandoning him for someone she knew that she had no future with?

Her life with Mark had been over, six women ago, she dreaded losing Dunk but what was she to do. Not only had Dunk been the perfect gentleman, especially when they weren’t fussing, but she valued his advice, his help and since being there, her daughter’s grades had improved tremendously.

Not to forget the services around the house, the added protection which was definitely needed since the gangs took over her once peaceful neighborhood, now littered with drugs and addicts ready to break in at any given moment. And last but definitely not least, the mind-blowing explosive oral orgasms she’d received from him before going to bed, then sending him back to the lonely couch. The man of her dreams was standing directly in front of her, her family called him, the opportunity of a lifetime, amongst other things, what a mistake she was making everyone thought.

But Danni couldn’t argue now, she had to get dressed like yesterday; she was already running late, hating not being on time.
