Chapter 9
I wake with a start the next morning to a sound in the kitchen. It takes me a second to figure out where I am, but then I feel the soreness between my legs and all the memories come flooding back in. I glance at my phone for the time, and it is still early. I look toward the kitchen and see Dean in nothing but a pair of gray sweatpants, and oh boy is that a sight I could get used to seeing every morning. I watch him for a minute while he is unaware I am awake. I swear I actually swoon as he walks around the kitchen making coffee. The way his arms flex when he reaches up into cabinets and how his abs contract as he stretches a little higher for the sugar on the top shelf. Whew! Is it hot in here?
I shout over toward him âDid you forget you have guests staying with you? Common courtesy dictates you put on some clothes.â
Dean looks over at me and grins. âSomeoneâs grumpy in the morning.â
I roll my eyes at him. âWhy are you up so early? Itâs your day off. Youâre supposed to sleep in.â
Dean looks at the time on the kitchen stove and then back over to me. âI did sleep in.â
I roll my eyes again and pull the covers over my face. âOh my god Dean.â I grumble.
He strolls over to the living room, and I hear him set a cup on the table. âCoffee?â
The smell surrounds me, and it is enough to make me sit up and grab the cup. Dean is grinning at me over his coffee mug as he takes a sip.
âWhat?â
He just shakes his head. âNothing. Youâre just really cute when you wake up.â
I rub my hands over my face. Oh lord. I probably look like shit. Sleeping on a couch definitely made my bedhead worse, and I havenât even washed my face yet.
âSorry we canât all look like freakin' Greek gods first thing in the morning.â
Dean laughs âYou always look like a goddess to me.â He adds a wink at the end.
I huff âOh please. Weâve only seen each other on what? Seven maybe eight separate occasions. Trust me it can get worse.â
I hear Brian walking upstairs. He mustâve gotten out of bed. We both hear the bedroom door open and Dean walks away into his office. He comes out a few seconds later in a t-shirt just as Brian enters the kitchen. Dean leans down and whispers to me. âFor the record, common courtesy in my house is that the guests donât put clothes on.â My eyes snap to his. God, does he really have to do that in front of Brian. I continue to glare at Dean.
Brian eyes the coffees in both our hands and narrows his eyes slightly at me in confusion. His sleepy voice comes out âYou never came to bed last night.â
I can feel my heartbeat picking up. Does he know something happened last night?
Deanâs voice stops my brain from going into overdrive.
