The next day, Logan looks surprised when I storm into his office, but he shouldn’t be. This is exactly what he wanted.

“What the fuck is this about?” I throw down the ‘I’m sorry’ card on his desk. “Your behavior is out of control. This is harassment. If you don’t leave me alone, I’ll file a report.”

I try not to be intimidated by Logan’s office. It has floor to ceiling windows with the most incredible views of the city. Inside, it’s furnished to the highest standard. Everything is glossy and pristine. The floors are black marble, the executive armchairs cream leather. His huge desk is walnut wood with a leather inlay. The room is big enough for a full three-piece suite to comfortably sit beneath a huge and expensive-looking modern art canvas.

And there he stands. In a pressed gray suit complete with fitted waistcoat and Italian leather shoes. He turns when I enter and casts his cool gaze over me, quickly recovering from his surprise. He stands casually, with one hand in his pocket. He lifts up a hand to prevent security manhandling me out the building. I had to run past them to get this far.

“It’s alright. I’ll see her.”

“How gracious of you,” I say, unable to keep the venom out my voice. “It’s unpleasant when your exes show up at your workplace, isn’t it?”

“Actually, you’ve saved me the job of trying to figure out how to run into you again.” He sits down behind his desk and gestures for me to take a seat on the other side. “And, for your information, I’ve contacted your office to complete the sale. I hope that’s something off your mind. Now, what’s got you so worked up, Cassie?”

“This.” I point at the card. “The roses. It’s too much, Logan. I’ve told you I’m not interested. I want you to stop pursuing me. I don’t want to see you. I don’t want your money. I don’t want your flowers.”

Logan picks up the card, reads the note, and lounges back in his chair. His expression changes from nonchalant to perturbed. “I didn’t send any roses.” He clenches his jaw. “Seems you’re keeping another man on his toes, too.”

Ice runs through my veins. If Logan didn’t send the flowers, it can only mean one thing…Mike has found me.

I feel my legs start to tremble, and I sit down in the chair opposite Logan. He sees the change in my expression and comes around to kneel at my side. His face is a picture of concern. He grabs a glass of water from the pitcher at the back of the room and presses it into my hand.

“Cassie, what’s wrong?”

“I thought you sent the flowers.”

“I didn’t.” He sits on the surface of his desk, facing me. He takes off his jacket and carefully folds it, placing it on the seat of his chair. “But I am glad you’re here. You didn’t give me chance to explain myself this morning.”

I bow my head. Closing my eyes, I let out a long breath.
