Katie wrote quite a lot of poetry when she was young, some of it was quite good and she had a good imagination.
The one below was printed in the local paper:
I wonder if it runs in my family?
My granddad died of it; then I was diagnosed with it you see
Protocols, treatment, doctors and drugs
What does it all mean?
The operation called a biopsy, what could that be?
Into the chemo like a bull at a gate
Did I then go
What horrors awaited me I did not know?
No hair or eyelashes or eyebrows
What could I be?
Fingernails with lines abreast
What kind of alien could I be?
