Blaine couldn’t believe it. They’d forced out Mike and Greg, had run with the pack, and Denver had called him mate. His mate. God, life changed so fast.

Denver was sleeping hard, hand draped over his belly, snoring like a member of the Latvian chainsaw drill team. Mmm. Naked, if a bit bruised, bullfighter. Yum.

Blaine’s fingers dragged on Denver’s arm, touching nice and slow, feeling inch by inch. Denver shifted, moaned a little, the snores breaking off.

That heavy cock began to fill, to swell for him. Blaine was fascinated by it, watching it, wanting to touch. It seemed to reach up for his hand, and he brushed his fingers against the tip.

“Mmm… Blaine.” Denver knew him, even in his sleep.

“Yep.” He whispered it, not wanting to disturb, but wanting to be together.

Denver turned toward him, drawing him close, bringing them together.

“Hey.” He smiled, knowing Denver couldn’t see, but needing to anyway.

“Hey.” Denver searched for his kiss, hunting his lips.

He gave them, kissing Denver slow and deep. Denver’s voice was like a soft song, whispering in his head. No words, just a deep bass rumble with a howling harmony. Was this mating? True mating?

He’d heard tales, but all pups did, and no one ever backed them up with facts.

Is that you, inside me?

Always. We mate for life. Denver sounded so satisfied.

Blaine blinked. How. How did you know?

I felt it. You healed my soul.

Blaine beamed, his heart thudding slow and solid in acknowledgement. Denver was his, too. His to protect and love in ways no one else ever had been. Denver pushed close, nuzzling his throat, nibbling just enough for his skin to tingle.

Biting was such a turn on. Who the hell knew? Blaine was no innocent, but Denver made him want new things.

No one looked at him like Denver did, like he was the center of the world.

He kissed Denver’s lower lip, then his cheekbone, just happy. Lazy. A little horny.

“Morning.” The sound was pure happy puppy growl. One heavy hand circled their cocks, the motion as natural and easy as breathing.

“Hey. Oh.” Blaine arched, his body going from interested to yes, please in mere moments.

“Like a nice slow morning screw.”

“Do you?” You learned something new every day, Blaine figured.

“Mmmhmm. Afternoons, too. Evenings are good for quickies.” Denver gave him a grin that was pure devil. “Then there’s the nights.”

“Nights are good.” He couldn’t see, let alone think, with Denver stroking him that way.

“Smell good.” Denver arched, rolling against him with a moan.

Blaine looked up, reaching up to grab Denver’s wide shoulders. “I smell like you, man.”

“You smell like pack.”

“Do I?” No one, not a single person, not even his mom, had ever said that to him. “Thank you.”

Denver nodded and kept stroking, a look of peace on the angular face that was less and less like Denton’s. Blaine worried a little that he would forget Dent’s look, his scent, because they had been good friends, no matter what. Then he thought of what Denver must be going through, and he let it go.
