Chapter 5

Warren had never been so nervous as he was right now. He was going to make love to his mate. Not only that, but he was going to bond with her forever. And in a way that he’d never done before. While he knew what occurred during the bonding, he wasn’t entirely sure what that would mean for the two of them. How much magic they’d share or if there was more. What would change in them as it had for Hamish and Lander. Warren, musing about silly things that he wouldn’t nor could he change, looked up when Robin said his name. The champagne glass that he’d been holding shattered in his hand.

“Do you like…what have you done to yourself? Damn it, Warren, am I going to have to take you to the hospital? What made you think that you could hold a glass flute in your hand and squeeze it like it was nothing more than a piece of cotton?” Robin took one step toward him when he told her that she was naked. “Well, dud, you dumb ass. I know the state of my undress, thank you very much. Are you hurt badly?”

“No. Not at all.” He was healed and smiled at her after showing the wound had disappeared to her. “Christ, you’re beautiful. Every part of you is more beautiful than the last.”

“Thank you. Is that what had you breaking glass? My goodness, what are you going to do when you have me in your bed? Snarl and treat me like I’m sort of prey?” She looked at him with an impish smile. “Though that does have merit when I think about it.”

Warren felt his beast rise up. The need to command, control and to conquer all of her was making him ill with need. However, once he touched his lips to Robins, a calmness moved over him like a cooling waterfall in a lovely setting with just the two of them there. Everything in him paused at that moment like it was regrouping and thinking about what it really wanted to do to his new mate. Warren could hear his heart beating, but it wasn’t as fast nor as scary as it had been.

“Are you all right?” He nodded, lifting his head slightly from hers. “You seemed sort of deranged there for a moment. I didn’t know what to think. Or is this the usual mode for you? I know so very little about you. And you I. It’s sort of sad when you think about it, but we have lifetimes to make memories with each other, don’t we, Warren?”

“I love you.” He set her away from him, then bent and picked her up from the floor. Holding her like this, like she was something so endearing and comforting to him, he smiled down at her loveliness. “I’ve never felt this way before. Like I can do anything I set my mind to. Say anything that I want, and it will be all right.
