Digest 5 - Relevant

A pastor stated that the Lord spoke to him and expressed that if his church isn’t relevant it will continue to be ignored. The pastor has a sizable church. He stated that after that word from the Lord he went on a mission to make his church relevant.

Also, I heard something to the effect - “If your church decided to leave the community would there be a rallying from the community to keep it there?” In other words, if your church left, would it, for the most part, be missed?

That made me think - how are we as Christians relevant today? One pastor stated that he told a pastor friend, “If you were in the seventies, you would be cutting edge.” We need to be current with the times without changing the message of the gospel. How are we relevant, people?

We should be anointed, authorized and powered by GOD as true worshippers who are change agents, innovators, developers of witty inventions, prosperous entrepreneurs, etc. who impact.

Christian Judge Penny once cleaned in the building where she became a judge. Hallelujah! Praise our Lord. She testified of how our Lord uses her because of her faithful service to Him. She’s been a contributor on CNN and there are a host of other things that she does. Clearly, she is relevant for the kingdom of GOD.

A HOLY anointed janitor can be relevant as can a dishwasher or maid. It’s not the natural profession or job that is the vital ingredient. It’s the condition of the heart. Our duty is to be willing and obedient to what GOD elects.

The prophet Amos was a farmer - he was relevant. David was a shepherd - he was relevant. Queen Esther was relevant for such a time as this... - Esther 4:14.

GOD expects His people to do as according to The Acts 17:6! The Acts 17:6 - ...These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

Spiritually profitable actions, for the most part, cannot be done without love as a base because without love we are nothing. We need to overflow with the fruits of the Spirit as defined in Galatians 5:22 and seek to righteously use the gifts of the Spirit. Only then can GOD trust us to use us to turn the world upside down.

1 Timothy 3:15 - But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Romans 6:12 - Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Romans 6:13 - Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 6:14 - For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
