The Kingdom Is Coming!
The world systems and governments are already sinking. In Scripture, mountains are often symbolic of governments and the sea speaks of the mass of humanity (see Revelation 17:15; Isaiah 17:12-13). As it says in Psalm 46:2, the mountains will slip into the sea—but we shall not fear. In the days to come, all governments will be melting like wax (see Psalm 97:5), and for a time the shifting seas that are in great confusion and turmoil will begin washing them away. However, God’s government will not be moved—it will be growing stronger and larger in the earth as all others dissolve. We must keep in mind that His kingdom is not of this world, but is very different than the governments of this world.
The doctrine of the kingdom is yet to be preached. The doctrine of salvation has gone into most of the world but not the gospel of the kingdom. Some today are preaching a doctrine of the kingdom, but we have not yet heard the message of the kingdom. When this unfolds and becomes the clear trumpet call, then we will know that the end of this age is near and the beginning of the restoration of the earth will be soon.
In Scripture, the first son born was often rejected as the heir, and the second was chosen. We see this from Cain and Abel through the patriarchs and then throughout the history of the Old Testament. When the kingdom was established in Israel as a type of the kingdom of God, there had to be a Saul before David. This is a message that the first to appear may not be the one. For this reason, we should not automatically believe the first message of the kingdom that comes along and appears to be head and shoulders above the rest. Even David, whose throne is to endure for the ages that the Lord Himself is seated upon, did not have the appearance of a king, even to the great prophet Samuel. The kingdom will come far more subtly than we are being led to believe. As Jesus warned the Pharisees, who had very carefully laid out their doctrines on the coming kingdom of the Messiah, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation” (see Luke 17:20 NKJV).
Though we may not yet know exactly how it is coming to the earth, we know that it is, and we know how to prepare for it. We know that we can begin to live in the kingdom now—by abiding in the King and obeying His will. If we are abiding in Him, we will be prepared. We have come to the most exciting and significant time in history that even the prophets and righteous of old desired to see, and we have been given the privilege of living in them. We are here for a purpose.
