Hot Dog Cheesy

Betty Crocker recipes are like the retro version of Pinterest recipes. This McCall’s 1979 hot dog sandwich is made from classic American cheese and bread instead of the regular roll. It’s time to get nostalgic with some vintage sandwiches.

Serves 8 | Prep. time 10 minutes | Cooking time 10 minutes

Ingredients

8 hot dogs

8 slices bread

¼ cup melted butter

8 slices American cheese

Softened butter

Prepared mustard

Directions

Add 2 cups of water to a medium saucepan or skillet and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Add the hot dogs.

Cover and simmer over low heat for about 5–8 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Spread butter and mustard on the bread slices.

Place the bread on the baking sheet. Place the American cheese slices on top.

Arrange the hot dogs over the cheese and fold the bread slices to make a triangle shape.

Secure with toothpicks.

Melt the butter over medium heat in a small saucepan or skillet.

Spread the melted butter over the triangles.

Preheat the broiler to medium-high heat.

Broil the sandwiches 4–5 inches from the heat source for 2 minutes until golden brown.

Serve warm.
