Chapter 16

“Susan, Babe, thank you for staying by my side, through all of this. I love you so much.”

“I love you too Prince.”

“Do you love me enough to marry me?”

“Of course, I do.”

“Pastor, she said yes.”

Holding Jewel he says. “Would you like it to be a double ceremony?”

“No,” she says, “let them enjoy their moment.”

He can see she’s still hurting. “Baby, I didn’t”

She kisses him. “I know. I can’t get that image out of my mind.”

“Jewel, do you really love me?”

“Of course I do.”

“Then why are you running from me?” He kisses her neck.

Jewel jumps back. “Running, me, I’m not running from anything”

“Yes you. I’ve asked you time and time again, to just get married. We can have a ceremony for the church later on. You come up with every excuse in the book.”

“I can’t believe you’re doing this right now.”

“Why not, don’t I deserve love too? When are you going to love me Jewel? When are you going to consider me?”

Walking away from him, she turns to Susan. “So when is the wedding?”

“In three days,” Susan says.

“We need to go get you a dress then, we will be back.”

She hurriedly pulls Susan out the house.

“Ok, Jewel what’s going on?”

“Nothing, I just want to make things perfect for you two.”

“Jewel, be honest with me, please. You’re distancing yourself from Pastor. What gives sis? When you thought Prince was dying, did your feelings change for him?”

“Sue, no, why?”

“Something has changed with Emmanuel.”

“He just asked you to marry him again.”

“True, but I find it strange that after I asked him the same question I asked you, he proposes the next day.”

“Sue, no. Don’t think that way. I was terrified for all of us. Please know I don’t want Emmanuel and he doesn’t want me. I was afraid of losing him, yes. But not for the reasons you’re thinking. I didn’t want to lose the one man I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can trust. I know that Prince would never lie to me. He’s been here for me Susan and I felt helpless. C’mon now, we’re sisters I would never hurt you like that. Had my feelings changed, I would have found any excuse to leave, to avoid causing either of you any pain. That’s not the type of love prince and I share. I was afraid all of us losing him, point blank, plain and simple.”

“Jewel, you know you can trust Pastor Daniels. I’ve known him for 11 years.”

Ignoring her comment she asks. “Tell me Susan, did you two kiss last night?”

Laughing, she says. “Yes and he kind of pushed me away, for the first time.”

“Susan, the man is really feeling better, if you know what I mean” laughing

Susan looks clueless. Jewel does a sexy dance.

Susan finally gets sit. “Ah,” Susan says, “No.”

“Girl, please, that man wants to marry you” Jewel begins doing the running man dance “to consummate with you.”

“Ah”, Susan screams and laughs loudly. “No”

“Yes,” says Jewel.

Embarrassed Susan shakes her head.

Now standing in front, of a lingerie shop.
