Chapter Twelve

Carter groaned as Sidney trailed her finger down his body. “I don’t want you to feel like you are being pressured into this,” he whispered as her fingers dragged along his waistband. With each second, he was losing control.

“I want this,” she said. “If it’s only one night. I’ll take it.”

Carter shifted until he had Sidney straddled across his hips. He needed to clear up a couple of misconceptions. “One night will never be enough,” he growled.

Her eyes shifted to the side, and he was sure she didn’t believe him. Carter tightened his grip around her waist, his fingers digging into her delicate hips.

“It’s all we have,” she said as she leaned forward.

He wanted a lifetime with her. It was crazy to think that way since he’d met her just a few weeks ago, but watching her hold Ashley, he’d known she belonged in his house too. He hadn’t gone looking to create his own family. It had just happened, but he didn’t plan on letting them go.

“You’re mine, Sidney,” Carter murmured. “This isn’t a one-night thing for me. I want to see where this goes. You’re the most breathtaking person I’ve ever seen.”

She rolled her eyes. “I still have black-and-blue marks all over my body. And a doctor decided to explore my insides and left me with a long scar.” She laughed softly.

“The doctor did a good job, and when it heals, you’ll barely be able to see the scar,” Carter added. “The black-and-blue marks show how strong you are.”

After tugging the shirt over her head, Sidney leaned forward and captured his lips. The kiss was full of need. His fingers wrapped in her hair and pulled her closer. By the time they separated, they were both breathing heavily.

She rested her forehead against his. “It feels so explosive between us.”

Carter cupped her breasts and played with her nipples. Sidney threw her head back and groaned. He leaned forward and captured the tight nipple in his mouth.
