Chapter Twelve

Fran could tell from the messages Lynn was upset. She told her to come to her house, mostly because she missed Lynn, but also because she wanted to know what transpired.

Deep down, Fran wanted to take care of Lynn, to be there for her no matter what, and this was one of those times she wanted to. Fran waited at home for her, wondering when she’d get there. When she heard the knock on the door, Fran then opened it, seeing Lynn there with a flush on her face.

"You’re here,” Fran said.

"You thought I wouldn't take your offer," Lynn teased.

“No, I'm just happy you’re here,” Fran said with a smile on her face.

She was. She feared they were drifting apart. Lynn then sat down on the couch, sighing. Fran could tell whatever she was doing with Richard didn't go as planned.

"So, what happened?" Fran inquired.

"Well, to put it simply, Richard was trying to get into my pants," she told Fran.

Fran nodded, understanding. "I had a feeling,” Fran said.

"I didn't. I thought he wanted to see me. Richard confessed his feelings, and I told him I wasn't interested. At first, he took it fine, but then he stormed away, and it got super awkward," she admitted.

"I had a feeling he wasn't the type to take rejection well," Fran mused.

"Yeah, I thought he would be better, but I guess not. It was not what I wanted, and he was not acting like himself. It made things just really weird between both of us, and it made me realize something," Lynn admitted.

"What is it?” Fran said.

"The truth is Fran. I like you. I know we have to keep things quiet, but it's hard not to when I'm with someone who means so much to me. It is nice feeling this," Lynn said.

Fran smiled, feeling everything come forward, looking at her with a smile on her face.

"You’re right. I feel the same,” Fran said.

"I do, but I know you're scared to come forward with it for a reason. It's the ghost from your past. Which I get, but I know for a fact you've got more to that than what you're letting on," Lynn said.

Fran nodded, looking at her with a severe expression.

"You're right. I can't hide it from you anymore, Lynn. You're too good to me to hide this," she said.

"Then, what is it?"

Lynn looked at her with a pleading glance, and it was all Fran could do not to break down and tell her everything.

" I was with one other woman before I met you. Her name is Holly, and she too was someone who I took on as an intern. She was nowhere near as good at you at writing scripts, but I was a dumbass twenty-five-year-old, new to the business, and I know this was ten years ago, but I thought this was a good idea. I was trying to work my way up the ranks, and she came along. I thought she was perfect for the job," Fran said.
