Chapter 24

Elizabeth

Marek cries out my name as he finds his release. His l’ok pulses deep in my core, filling me with his essence. His eyes swirl from obsidian to their usual glowing green. He leans down and claims my lips in a searing kiss before rolling us both on our sides, facing one another.

It’s been three days, and I can’t count how many times we’ve made love.

He’s still knotted deep inside me, and I’m surprised to feel the fire of his need still burning within him. However, the intensity has lessened, as if the sharp edge of the blade has been dulled. He reaches across to touch my face and presses another kiss to my lips. Pulling me close, he nuzzles my hair before closing his eyes and drifting to sleep.

I’m so exhausted; I’ve barely slept or had anything to eat or drink aside from the few protein supplement pouches I was able to down during the rare moments I could slip away from my ravenous mate.

Gently, I check the connection between us. His mind is calmer now, closer to his baseline than the maelstrom of emotions he’s experienced over the past few days.

Sensing my presence in his thoughts, his consciousness envelops mine like a soothing embrace of warm love and affection.

“You are mine, and I am yours,” he whispers through the bond. His tr’llen sounds in his chest as he holds me close. I allow myself to fall asleep in his arms.
