Seeing my brother living out his calling in Haiti. I’ve never been more proud.

I came to Haiti to visit my brother, Adam, who arrived as an aid worker with Samaritan’s Purse just months after the earthquake hit and days after his college graduation. He has been there ever since, now monitoring the impact of emergency relief. I’ve never been more proud of him.

When the world looks at Haiti now, it just sees devastation. But the people, the culture, and the country itself are beautiful. Magical, actually, and I loved it more than I knew I could love a place. We walked with locals on the beach, got stung by tiny jellyfish swimming to an island in the sea, and danced to Rihanna on a helipad at night with dozens of kids from the community.

I’ve never been to a better dance party.
