Totally Roasted Epilogue

Pain rocked through my shoulder, causing my vision to tunnel. Why did the shower in an RV have to be so damn small? I turned, trying to get the soap off my face, and smashed my elbow again. That was it, I was clean enough. Turning off the water, I grabbed my towel and quickly dried off. Wrapping the towel around my waist proved to be more of a challenge than I expected. When I stepped into the crisp, cool air of the RV, Lucy's smile warmed me up.

"Here are all the first aid supplies I have, but I don't know the first thing about caring for an injury." She fanned her hand over the items laid out on the table.

I slipped into the seat across from her and picked up a few bandages. "The good news is, as a shifter, I heal much faster. What takes a human months will only take me days. So the bone has already started knitting together and only needs a bit of extra support to prevent it from breaking again."

"What happens if you shift right now?"

While wrapping my arm against my body, I answered her question. "Since the break is so fresh, shifting again could re-break it." I tied the bandage, ensuring it wasn't too tight. "After we finish mating, you'll heal faster too. And live longer if the rumors are true."

Lucy put away the unused supplies. "Val told me a few things to expect. I still can't believe mating humans is outlawed."

I ran my fingers through my beard, trying to tame it. "The council ignores it when it happens on the down-low. A shifter mating a human every few years isn't enough for them to take action, but something like this with the dating event and waves of humans and shifters trying to mate… they'll watch the whole world burn while trying to stop it."

Lucy looked me over. "I know we're running out of time, but I don't want to hurt you. It's so weird. There's this panic, doomed feeling that is stressing me out."

Sliding my hand across the table, I grasped her hand. My own dread eased the moment we were near each other again, but touching her like this calmed me more. "It's the mating bond warning us time is almost up. And you won't hurt me. We'll be careful and after a few days, you can get as dominant as you want after I'm healed. Nothing to worry about."

Tugging on her hand, I led her to the bed in the back of the RV. Cupping her face; I leaned down and kissed her until everything felt right in the world.

"Stay right here and no touching." Lucy grabbed my towel, untucked it, and hung it on the bathroom door.

"Yes, Ma'am." I stood still, watching her. "Is it okay if I call you Ma'am?"

Lucy grinned as she slowly stripped her clothes off, taking time to slide her hands over her delicious curves. "Ma'am, Queen, or if you think of anything else fitting, you can ask.
