âOn the count of three say cheese. oneâ¦twoâ¦three!â The camera man yelled as he snapped a few photos. We made it to the mall a little over an hour ago, and the line to take a picture with Santa was longer than the lines people stand in when a new pair of Jordans came out. I almost wanted to say fuck it, but I knew if I didnât take the picture now, I wouldnât be bringing my black ass back to this crowded ass mall.
There were so many people here, that it almost gave me anxiety. I didnât have a problem with going out and being around people, but it was to the point where I didnât feel safe. It was Christmas time, and people did stupid shit around the holidays. The only reassurance I had, was the clip that was resting on the side of my hip, and I never left home without it.
After looking at the pictures and collecting our ticket to have them printed, we headed to another line for printing. I was enjoying listening to Skylar and Liberty make small talk while they stayed glued to one another like they belonged together. We werenât in line for ten minutes before it was our turn to get our pictures printed. Looking at the four different pictures had a smile creeping across my face. Liberty had no idea how much joy she brought to me and Skylar. That alone made me want to keep her close.
âIshy, can we get a few of the big copies? I would love to have one hanging up at home.â Liberty expressed as she examined the preview copies in adoration.
âYou can have whatever you want baby.â Not hearing a word from Skylar, I turned around to see what she was doing, and my heart skipped a beat when I spotted Skylar in the play area talking to Ayden and hugging him while he looked at her with a big smile on his face. I was almost sure he wouldnât remember who Skylar was, since he was only three years old when Alana left me.
âWhatâs wrong?â Liberty asked when she saw the look of worry on my face. Not being able to focus long enough to answer her question, I made my way to Skylar to stop the volcano I could feel about to erupt. At the same time, Alana and Fred were also walking in our direction with Alana pushing a stroller.
âMommy! Where have you been? I missed you! I have been calling and texting you for so long! Are you here to get me?â Skylar yelled in excitement as she rushed Alana. Knowing this shit wasnât about to end well, I walked over to them prepared to get Skylar away from them, in any way shape or form.
âMa, you had another baby?â Skylar questioned, not knowing what was going on around her.
âHey, Sky baby. Mommy missed you too. Youâve gotten so big.â Alana said. From the look on her face, I could tell she was nervous and shocked at the same time.
