Chapter 16

Pleasure vibrated like crazy inside her system, in tune with what big, rough—wonderfully calloused—hands were doing to her breasts and reveling in each motion. Ahn hadn’t known her breasts could be so sensitive until now, and she didn’t know the sensation could travel down her lower body until she was aching there, too. That ache built and built as Malcolm kept up his ministrations, his focus so sheer and his golden eye so brilliantly dark with it.

Just as abruptly, that pleasure stopped, hurling her into another feeling that she knew all too well.

Ahn could only throw one look in Malcolm’s direction, pleading without saying a word. Then she was fully dragged down, and she could no longer see him and the rest of their white surroundings.

She could only see her vision, playing before her in a reel that was slow-moving, almost to the point of being sluggish. Like the cold was affecting it, too.

But it was clearer than ever.

With nothing else to do, she rode through it. They played in her mind, a mix of unending places she didn’t recognize and landmarks she couldn’t possibly have encountered yet. Landmarks became objects, still unfamiliar. Orange trees. Yellow trees. Tall shadows lined up with each other. One after another, they appeared before her, floating, molding in with the rest, becoming a big blur that made her head pound and her body numb.

She wondered if this was what the scaled men’s invasion felt like. Ahn doubted it, as she wasn’t as haunted over this as Malcolm had been over his experience.

The visions played some more, most of them repetitive. Most important, none of them involving fire or any of the dreadful stuff her visions often had. Because of that, other emotions began to slither in, one more insistent than the rest: frustration, at the vision interrupting reality.

Frustration, because she’d been so close to feeling something she’d never felt before with a man’s expert touch, and this vision had just killed it for her.

The frustration rose and fell, rose and fell. Its intensity made her forget she was even having visions, and it took her a second or two to realize she was hurtling back into reality. She didn’t crash hard, because someone on the other side caught her. She knew who that someone was before she even saw him.

Ahn opened her eyes, trying to clear her reeling mind and failing. She found herself pressed firmly to the ground on her back, with another body on top of her to keep her movements from being detected. A protection, but also the best and worst thing to happen now that she was still in the throes of everything.

Hands patted her down, soothing gestures to make sure she was alright as he became aware of her return from her vision. They didn’t soothe, and she almost said that out loud before realizing she couldn’t speak here. The frustration only grew, making her heady.

Without thought, she lifted her hips, frantic for more of the connection he was giving her.
