“So first I spotted Orion’s belt. And then the Big Dipper …”

We were walking back to Sparkle Lagoon around the edge of the lake, and so far, Benji hadn’t paused long enough for me to tell him about Ursula and the starfish.

“And then Jordy showed me Taurus, the bull constellation,” he went on, nearly slipping on the sticky trail from a giant lake snail crossing in front of us. “It was so awesome. I think the starfish shimmered brighter than real stars.”

No thanks to Ursula, I thought.

It was hard to focus on what Benji was saying because I couldn’t stop thinking about her, and what she might be up to now. But as we rounded the path leading to Sparkle Lagoon, Benji let out a shout—

“Look, there’s Ursula!” He waved to the sea witch, who was sitting in the shallows, helping prepare the food for the krill grill.

She glanced up and grinned. “Whale-come to the barbecue!” she called. “I’m cooking up a fin-tastic feast for the tiddlers.” She gestured to the younger campers milling around. “Come join!”

“We’re on our way—” Benji beamed at her. “Ooh, I can’t wait to tell her about the starfish. She’d love them!”

Yeah, a little too much! “Um—Benji, we really need to talk—”

“Whoa!” Benji pointed to a glistening lobster scuttling past. “Is that a Gilded Claw? I’ve never seen one before.”

“Yeah, but Benji, I need to tell you something about Ursula—”

“Sure, Bloom—only we’d better go help, she looks so busy.”

I followed him over to the table where Ursula was sitting. She was breaking up chunks of enchanted chocolate. “Guaranteed to give you sweet dreams,” she giggled as she snapped another bar.

“Can I help?” Benji grabbed a bag of marshmallow cloud puffs. “Shall I pour them into this bowl?”

“Sure,” Ursula said. “I adore a helping tentacle! But make sure they don’t—”

Too late! A handful floated off.
