Chapter 8

The car was almost as sexy as Christoph. Felicia gripped the wheel, and for the first time since she’d moved to Witch Island as a kid, she wished the island was bigger; that the roads were straighter and went on for miles. She was dying to open the car up and see what it could really do, but since the island was a maze of narrow, hilly streets, she had to be content with testing the handling and the way it responded to her every command. She could definitely get used to this.

All too soon, she whipped the sexy car into a parking space in front of the Batshit Crazy Bingo Parlor. When she climbed out of the car and turned to Christoph, expecting him to ask about the establishment as every outsider did, she found him studying her, his eyes hooded and his body taught as if he was ready to pounce.

Desire swirled straight to her center, and she sucked in a breath just to settle herself. “You could light someone on fire with that gaze,” she said.

“Looks like I already did.” He reached over and brushed a lock of hair behind her ear, letting his thumb linger on her jawline.

She couldn’t help herself. She leaned into his touch, dying for more contact.

A loud whistle pierced the warm night air, and they both jerked back. “Felicia, is that you in that sexy-ass car?”

She turned, a smile already spreading across her face. “Chad? What the hell are you doing here? I thought you hated bingo.”

“It was happy hour. All-you-can-eat wings and two-for-one draft beer. Where else would I be?”

“All-you-can-eat wings? Did you put them out of business?” she asked.

He chuckled. “Almost. They should know better than to run that special with me on the island. I’m the ultimate bottomless pit.” Chad turned his attention to Christoph and did a double take. “Hells bells, he’s a hottie.”

Christoph cleared his throat. “Uh, thanks?”

“Felicia, damn girl. Where’d you find this one?” Chad asked her, still staring at the vampire.

She grinned at her best friend, abandoning any pretense of keeping her cool. “Christoph just walked into the shop this afternoon. And well, here we are.”

“At bingo?” he turned to her, horror in his tone. “Oh, no, sweetheart. How many times have I told you that bingo is not a place to take a date?” He turned to Christoph. “I have to apologize for my friend. She’s not very experienced—ouch.” He spun and glared at Felicia, who’d elbowed him in the side for telling her date that she was inexperienced. She glared back and gave him her I can’t believe you said that look.

Sorry, he mouthed and turned back to Christoph. He cleared his throat. “As I was saying, she’d not that experienced at planning dates. For whatever reason, she seems to think people actually enjoy this activity. I try to tell her candles, hot oils, wax, nipple clamps, those are all things people enjoy, not coloring a damned bingo card, but some of us are slow learners.
