Chapter 16

“So how are you two doing?” Aijah asks Ahlesha as she was home getting ready for a business lunch meeting with Calvin.

“Girl, I guess we’re ok. But it is very awkward.” Ahlesha sighs.

“Yeah, I bet. Sean really shocked me. I didn’t expect him to stay at that hotel for three days. He must have been really mad.” Aijah says.

“Yeah, I guess he was.”

“But do you really think that Sean believes that you and Lenox were really messing around. I mean, c’mon now, he has to know you better than that.” Aijah says as she was trying put on her sexy, black patent-leather stilettos.

“Well I guess he doesn’t know me, or either is thinking that history is repeating itself with Lenox and I.”

“Oh yeah, I guess he could have been having a flashback.”

There was some silence on the phone until Aijah picked back up the conversation.

“Well, we’re just going to have to keep praying about this. God will work it out. He knows what’s going on.”

“Yeah, that’s true.” Ahlesha decided to switch the subject. “Sooooo, you and this Mr. Perkins are going to have a business lunch meeting, huh?”

“Yes, ma’am. Why did you say it like that?”

“Like what?” Ahlesha replies back.

“Like, implying that the meeting is more than a meeting.”

“I didn’t say it like that….what? Are you feeling guilty?”

“No. I don’t have anything to feel guilty about. It’s just lunch.” Aijah quickly corrected herself. “A business lunch meeting.”

Ahlesha laughed. “Yeah. A business lunch meeting, right.”

The two ladies ended their phone call while Aijah put the finishing touches on her makeup. After giving herself a once over she did realize that she was a little bit sexy for a business lunch. She had on a pink pencil skirt with a black opaque knit blouse. Though it could have been easily transformed into a business suit if she would have worn the matching blazer that went with the skirt, but she decided to leave it off.

Whether Aijah wanted to admit it or not, she was enjoying being in the presence of another man, who was obviously giving her some attention. She could clearly acknowledge that it was her flesh enjoying all this attention from Calvin. She got into her car and headed toward the fancy restaurant that Calvin suggested that they meet up at.

When she arrived she valets her car and walked into the restaurant. The host greeted Aijah as she walked in the door.

“Hi, welcome to Maxi’s Bistro, how many will be joining you?” The hostess says.

“Actually, I’m supposed to be meeting someone here.” Aijah says as she scans the restaurant for Calvin. “Ahh, I actually see him sitting at the bar.” Ahlesha says to the waitress as she points in Calvin’s direction.

“Ok, ma’am. Well enjoy your lunch.” And she gives Aijah clearance to join Calvin at the bar.

Calvin spots Aijah walking toward him and he rises from his chair to greet her. They both embrace each other with a hug.

“Hey. How are you? You’re looking very nice today.” Calvin says as he compliments her on her attire.
